School Outreach Programs
Nurturing imaginations, developing acting skills and providing actor-centered education since 1996.
Welcome to the Stone Soup Theatre Drama Education Enrichment program! Designed to fit the needs of K-12 students, we have integrated state learning standards with the belief that theatre is the perfect medium to serve students with diverse learning styles.
We provide after-school and performance programs to more than 35 private and public schools in the greater Seattle area. Contact our Educational Director to bring one of our very popular programs to your school. Travel expense outside Seattle should be expected. We also ask that you give us proper planning time to bring your school and ours together in a successful way!

Story Drama
It’s inspiring to teach new readers to lift a story from the page with only their bodies and imaginations. Young ones become excited about reading through the art of simple play!
Improvisation
Kids will have great fun improvising characters and story lines. We will teach them to trust the process of making it up as they go, while creating scenes and characters expressing a wide range of emotions.
Scene Study
This class is the foundation of actor training and will teach character development, movement and voice work.
Musical Theatre
Come explore the wonderful world of musical theatre. We can perform a wide range of musicals or pick excerpts from current hits. Pick your favorite musical(s) and let us bring them to life.
Script Writing
There is no greater imagination than that of youth. Stone Soup teaching artists will guide students’ story-telling skills and teach them to apply conflict, character development, storyline and resolution to the written word. Program culminates in performance.
Shakespeare Study
Regardless of age, Shakespeare’s poetry and magic is timeless. Younger folks delight in the fantasy worlds created by the Bard’s language. Teens identify with strengths and angst of characters as they begin to take themselves more seriously. Something for everyone.
Performance Programs
Leave the details of the school play to us. We will provide a director and an adaptation of children’s literature, 30-60 minutes in length or work with you to obtain rights for a longer production. Our teaching artists will help kids explore the fun and excitement that goes hand-in-hand with creating live theatre. We strive to teach kids how to find the best in themselves, and go on to share it!
