School Year Education Assistant for Outreach Programs
Description: We are looking for an individual who can work with the Director of Education, Kathya Alexander and assist in the duties of organizing after drama programs school and residencies in our 21 area schools with potential of growing to include 30 schools by 2016. The ideal candidate will have some background in teaching drama and a strong interest in being a part of bringing the arts to schools. Many schools do not have drama as a part of their curriculum. Stone Soup provides a needed service with both the arts and the convenience of after school programs for working parents. Six- 10 hours a week will be required, strong computer and communication skills written and verbal. This internship has the potential to become a part time job in the next school year and summer.
For teaching or assisting teaching in our programs will bring additional income for the right candidate. The position pays a quarterly stipend of $200.00 and will begin in September 2015 and culminate in June. Summer Teaching Internship
Stone Soup’s Theatre’s educational programs focus on giving each young actor the tools they need to succeed on stage. All our student productions are actor-centered: our students are the true stars of our shows! We take focus away from the technical aspects of theatre and put it back in our young actor’s imaginations. We use suggestive costuming, sets and props to enable our student performers to bring the world of the play to life.
Description: Work with youth ages 4+ each week to perform 30 minute versions of a wide variety of scripts including adaptations of musicals and Shakespeare as well as classics like The Hobbit or Through the Looking Glass. We need Interns who love kids and theatre.
Job Duties: Duties include assisting Teaching Artists in the creation of live theatre pieces; supervising, guiding and encouraging young performers; organizing scripts and attendance sheets; and the coordination of props and costumes. Interns will gain first hand experience in bringing a script from page to stage with young performers including observing and collaborating with experienced teaching artists and leading games and exercises while also gaining classroom/rehearsal management skills.
– Interns must be available to work 7-8 weeks, from June 22 to the end of August in our Outdoor Summer camps.
– Interns must be able to work 9am-3pm weekdays during the Summer.
– Interns must have access to a car or be able to arrange transportation to camp sites.
– Interns must complete each camp they are assigned to in order to fulfill the internship requirements.
– All Interns must pass a background check, as required by the state of Washington.
Qualifications: Interns should have some experience working with children and either be completing a Theatre or Education degree, be a Theatre or Education graduate, or have significant Theatre experience.
Compensation: Stipend $100 per week ($65 per week for interns under 18) or Internship/Service Credit Hours

Summer Education Assistant Internship
Description: Assist the Education Director with the administration of Stone Soup’s numerous outdoor and onsite summer theatre camps serving youth ages 4 and up. The Assistant to the Education Director will serve as a back up to Education Director in multiple areas including answering the phone and fielding questions; assisting with the weekly planning and organization of camps; assisting with marketing projects and general office tasks.
– Copying scripts, attendance sheets and organizing other paperwork as needed for weekly camps.
– Organizing t-shirts and magnets for weekly camps.
– Working on assigned marketing projects when time allows.
– Answering the phones and interacting with the public.
– Assisting the Costumer when needed.
– General office and organization tasks as needed in a busy office environment.
An interest in live theatre, theatre administration, and youth. Must be able to pass a background check as required by the state of Washington.
Compensation: Dependent on Experience/Internship or Service Credit available.

Summer Costume Internship
Interns will have the opportunity to participate in aspects of costuming our camp productions, creating reuseable costume options for each of our summer camp titles. This internship will provide practical work experience in the day to day operation of the costume department. Applicants should have some design experience.
Stone Soup Theatre seeks stage managers personable and detail oriented to work with either youth or adult casts in the 2015-16 season. Duties include organizing auditions and call backs, prop retrieval, communication with casts. Organizational skills are just as important as the ability to take over the show once it is open. Rehearsals for youth programs are Fridays 4–7 and Saturday mornings 10–1. Adult casts rehearse evenings and weekends. Stone Soup produces one-act plays in an intimate 50 seat theater. Technical theatre background is a plus when applying for this position. Stipend pay included.
The Marketing intern will assist in all aspects of communication with the media, Audience, generating story ideas, drafting news releases, creating displays, handling mailings, updating mailing lists, maintaining publicity files and developing creative, low cost plans to reach new audiences. Depending on the intern’s interests and aptitudes, he/she may also be given lead responsibilities for a short term campaign or project. Applicant must have experience with computer graphics and MS Outlook.
